Why We Built a Launch Board for Indie Makers

Most launch platforms show you votes, not visitors. Hauntboard is built for solo founders who want to know what their launch actually got.

Launching on the internet often rewards whoever can gather the most attention on the day. If you have a big following, friends ready to back you and time to post updates all day, that works. Most solo makers have none of those.

The Reality for Solo Builders

You spend months building something useful. Launch day comes, you post the link, and within hours it scrolls out of view under launches from teams with audiences and marketing budgets. Afterwards it's hard to tell whether the product failed or simply wasn't seen.

Most launch platforms can't help you answer that, because they show how many people voted but not how many visited your site.

What Hauntboard Does Differently

Hauntboard is built around one promise: the launch board that shows you exactly what it sent you.

  • A week, not a day: launches run in weekly batches, so each one has seven days to be found instead of a few hours.
  • A person reviews every launch: we check that the site works and matches its description, and every listing needs a founder note written by the maker.
  • Public numbers: each launch page shows its page views and outbound clicks. Each visitor is counted once per browser per day, and known bots are filtered out. Votes are public too, but clicks are the headline number, because they show what a launch actually got.
  • A dofollow link: every approved listing gets one. Paid listings keep it permanently; a free listing keeps it as long as the Hauntboard badge stays on its site, and the link switches to nofollow if the badge is removed.
  • The ghost meter: a launch's ghost fades in as real visitors arrive, from "Still a ghost" (under 10 visitors) through "Glimpsed", "Spotted" and "Seen" to "Unmissable" (500 or more). Small numbers are worth celebrating: twelve visitors are twelve people who found your work.

Where Hauntboard Is Today

Hauntboard is new. There's no archive of past launches and no traffic history yet, so we can't tell you what a typical launch here gets, and we won't publish estimates in the meantime. When there are real numbers, they'll be on every launch page for anyone to check.

Free launches go into the next open week and show the Hauntboard badge. Launch Now ($19) lets you choose your week without the badge, and Spotlight ($49) pins a launch in the top row for its whole week.

A Calmer Way to Launch

You shouldn't need a social media campaign to get your software in front of people. If you built something real, you deserve to be seen. Read our guide to launching with no audience, or submit your launch.

Don't be a ghost. Show what you built.

Don't be a ghost. Launch on Hauntboard.

Every approved launch runs for a week, gets a person's review and shows its page views and outbound clicks in public. Approved listings get a dofollow link (free listings keep it while the Hauntboard badge stays up).
